Scientific Departments

NTI consists of five scientific departments which have a group of experts and scientists.

The Network Planning department plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of a telecommunication networks.

Some of the key activities that a Network Planning department undertake:

Network Design and Optimization
  • Capacity Planning, Network topology design, Resource allocation, and Technology selection.
Network Deployment
  • Planning and arranging for the installation of new network infrastructure.
  • Making certain that new hardware is compatible with current networks.
  • Validating and testing newly deployed networks.
Safety Monitoring and Performance Management
  • Regularly keeping a close watch on network performance and seeing possible issues, taking remedial measures to address problems with network performance, Reporting to regulating authorities and operators on network safety measures, and Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Network Security
  • Recognizing and evaluating threats to network security.
  • Creating and carrying out security guidelines and protocols.
Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards and Preparing reports and documentation for regulatory agencies.

The Department has academic members who work in several research fields such as:

  • Design and evaluate the performance of computer networks.
  • Wireless and mobile networks security planning and optimization.
  • Wireless and mobile networks security.
  • Green communication networks.
  • Cloud computing.
  • Cognitive Radio.

The Computers and Systems Department is interested in everything new in many computer areas related to information technology, including multiple operating systems, whether Windows Server or Linux, computer programming and applications, typical and modern computer networks and their security, building cloud computing and virtual systems, as well as programming modern networks and their applications, whether automatic control using Software-defined programming or artificial intelligence.

The department provides the consultation and training for both the graduate and the undergraduate engineers in these fields.

The Computers and Systems Department acting on:

  • Academic, applied and practical training in the fields of cloud computing, data security, networks, various operating systems, artificial intelligence and data analysis.
  • Supervising, operating and maintaining the institute’s networks in its various branches.
  • Follow up on diploma server services and exam work on the LMS.

The Department has academic members who work in several research fields such as:

  • Cloud Computing.
  • Machine learning, artificial intelligence and data mining.
  • Multimedia Communication.
  • Information Security.
  • Internet of Things (IoT).

The Department of Electronics focuses on applied and scientific research in the field of design and engineering of communications electronics. The department supports and cooperates with the local industry and provides high-level training programs in the field of electronics design, such as embedded systems, integrated circuit design (IC. Design) , and printed circuits board (PCB), in addition to assistive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The department plays a pivotal role in the country in designing and manufacturing printed circuits board with single/double layers with high quality through Printed circuits laboratory. The department plays important role in the field of Robotics.

Electronics Department acting on:

  • Design, manufacture and measurement of printed electronic circuits.
  • Design, program, test and develop the tracking device.

  • Integrated Circuit Design (IC design).
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB).
  • Embedded systems.
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The department's interests focus on transmission systems and transmission technologies. It offers continuous education and professional training for telecommunication engineers especially in the optical and microwave communication domains. The department also offers consultation for companies operating microwave and optical systems.

The department has several laboratories for practical training: FTTx lab equipped with all necessary equipment and tools for field planning and testing, AirPON lab demonstrating FTTH solution for congested areas with complete distribution network configuration; digital communication lab offering fundamental training for telecommunication engineers equipped with PDH and SDH testing equipment.

Transmission Department acting on:

  • Training in the field of planning, implementation, operation, and testing of optical fiber networks.
  • Implementing special courses for some government agencies and private companies in the field of fiber systems and microwave systems
  • Offers consultations in the field of telecommunications systems using optical fibers and radio telecommunications systems,

The Department has academic members who work in several research fields such as:

  • 6G Reconfigurable intelligent surface.
  • TeraHertz communication and sensing.
  • AI in 6G and MIMO antenna.

The Switching and Traffic department studies telecommunications networks and systems. The department’s faculty and engineers actively participate in the areas of research, consultancy and training.

The department offers consultancy services covering a range of telecommunications aspects like data and voice networks, unified communications, and converged infrastructure. The consultancy process involves:

  • Assessing the client's current systems, networks, hardware, software, and integration capabilities, alongside evaluating organizational needs, user requirements, budget constraints, and future expansion plans.
  • Evaluating and recommending technologies, solutions, and vendors based on client needs.
  • Designing and implementing customized solutions to align with client goals and technical requirements, with assistance provided in implementation planning, vendor selection, and project management for smooth deployment.
  • Monitoring and optimizing performance along with risk management and security measures implementation to ensure the protection of client networks against various threats.
  • Training on new technologies is offered if required.

The department encompasses comprehensive curricula designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to excel in various roles within the industry.
